Actionsquid's News

Posted by Actionsquid - June 28th, 2010

A lot of people have asked me if I will scout them. I have no idea how I became so famous for unscouted users, but I am willing to check ANYONE who drops a note in my inbox. I love helping out, but am too lazy to go to the unscouted submissions page to see who's good enough for the portal. Actually, about that; I am quite the critic. I try very hard not to base my critiques on preference. Even pictures that I do not like may have a positive response from me. But again, I am a heavy hitter. If you ask me to scout work that is not up to par with the art portals lowest standards, I will turn you down. I will offer my advice to any and all, and if you come back later with an updated portfolio, I may scout your art page. That is how I roll.

In the NEWS portion of this journal, I would like to address the fact that I have been seemingly absent for quite some time. Those of you who actually give a hoot may have wondered "wut up wid dat?" Well, I have been trying to get settled for the summer, and have not had the time to do much art work. SOON, I will posting my latest work, which is a much more kick-ass version of the Trite alien that I drew awhile back. Get ready for some crazy updates!

Lastly, I would like to ask for opinions. I have a series of comics titled "Epic Fail" that I would like to somehow post on newgrounds. I have considered the art portal, but fear that the apparently low quality (though many of the comics have a lot of work put into them) might boot me out. I have considered news posts, but that would create a HUGE mess in my journals area. Any suggestions?

The Action Scoop on the Action Squid

Hokey Dokey. It seems that nobody is interested in the experiment series enough to own one, even when they were free... So, I'm extending the commission station to encompass EVERYTHING I do, with negotiable costs, and again, the first 3 to hit me with a request (just respond to this news post) get it FREE. FREE!!!

PS. I'm getting a lot of questions regarding the station of each of the experiments, such as habits and origins. I just want to make clear that those details are for YOU to determine. These are simply things I draw in 10 minutes or less. I want the viewer to to create their own story to inspire the imagination. That is why they are without color or background.

Commission update

Like the Experiment Series and want a monster customized just for you? PM me and we'll talk. The first few, I'll do for free. Any thereafter that have a price tag will be cheap, between 5 and 10 dollars. I'll also mail you the original copy, and, if you please, any preliminary sketches (not that I ever do preliminaries on these things...). I will also draw in a background and make adjustments accordingly. So again, PM me with a general idea of what you want, and I'll do it, and the first few are free. FREE!

MONSTER COMMISIONS!!!

I have begun a series of monster drawings, none of which are planned out. I draw a strange figure in a strange position, then add some features, then shading, and there's a shiny new monster upon the page! This is where I really let loose :)

The Experiments are loose!

Radasus changes nothing. On Newgrounds, I shall always be Action Squid. This is the best thing on GIMP 2 I've made so far. LOOK AT THE DAMN FUR!

Still Action Squid

I have officially finished my color series. It was fun making, and I learned quite a bit about the program GIMP 2. I must say that it was the good reviews that motivated me to continue the series after I had finished the primaries and secondaries. Thanks again!

No, I do not plan on doing white and black, since both would require gray, and one could argue that none of them are colors anyway.

COMPLETE!

Yep

Yep

Take that, world! After one hell of a lot of work, I finally have something to show for it. Jest if you like, but I have no shame in my joining of Boy Scouts. I learned how to shoot various guns and how to bulls-eye a target with a bow. I traveled 50 miles in a canoe over the course of a week, I learned how to rock climb and rappel, I know how to survive in an outdoor environment, how to follow the stars, and so on and so forth. I have made the highest achievement in the scout, and for that I am happy.

I've recently installed the GIMP 2, so I plan on learning as much as I can with it. As a result, I am creating an experimental color series for practice. In these drawings, I try to emphasize the different characteristics of each color, either through calm simplicity, burning passion, nonconformity, contrast, or anything that I can think of. I hope you enjoy them!

glad my art finally reappeared! A bit annoying though, since it goes by date submitted, rather than date scouted. AH WELL! I guess I'll just have to submit new stuff to regain fame (or notoriety, mwahahaha!).
